This is great for swabbing the alto, tenor, or baritone saxophone neck.
I usually use it after running warm or cold water through the neck with the octave pip plugged by a thin rubber sheet or an old mouthpiece patch to avoid wetting the octave key pad. Using a flexible brush while rinsing the neck with water helps in consistent removal of spit and debris.
Under these conditions, the swab does an excellent job removing the residual moisture. The only improvement would be a second string on the opposite end, in case if the swab gets stuck.
The swab is most rigid the first time it is used. Moisten it with water before the first use, to make the swab softer and more pliable.
With time, the swab edges will get frazzled by catching on the internal tube of the octave pip. If the swab is too frazzled, it will be still useful for drying the pads.
All in all, a great item to have.
