It was an experiment to try quite light set of strings for my 7-string guitar.
These strings fits perfectly for can be regular tuning or half down and even one whole step down and will stay fine with normal tension.
For low tunings such as Drop to G for bottom string will make that string just a bit sloppy especially on upper six strings, however not that bad. If you have guitar with 25.5? or 26.5? scale neck this could be worth to try in search of perfect tension. Or to use it for 6-string guitar by throwing away third string and set becomes perfect for tunings such as Drop A (AGCFAD).
This set is very good for those who consider himself as 10-46 player but who need good tension on lower seventh string without going to heavy gauges. I would say that gauges set could be hard to find as because of this beefy low string. However, it prevents player to buy and combine two different strings or from buying normal six-string set and additional spare string.
Quality strings with good and clear tone, very mid-range oriented and lasts quite enough. Lowest string provides distinct low-end tone and sounds good not only for overdriven tones but also sounds awesome with cleans.
Great value for its money I must say. This can compete with GHS set for this price but Daddrios provides a bit different tone. This isn?t my set of choice just because I like thicker strings but nevertheless this set is very good regarding tone and clarity.
I am using this with my 25" PRS SE Custom 24-7 guitar. Since it has a relatively short scale length, I was worried about the tuning, especially for EBGDAEA. I decided to try .059 instead of .056 and tried this set. I can say that I am happy with them.
I might give NYXL series a try but I chose this product because of its price.
Overall, I recommend this product.
Just dipping my toes into the 7 string world, I've trusted and Used Daddario on my guitars for years. You can't go wrong. So what else have I used. Ernie Ball, GHS Boomers, ect.. I just keep coming back to Daddario.
This is great for B or Bb tuning, or Drop A tuning. If you like higher tension, maybe get higher gauge strings, but I think this will suit most people for these tunings.
I've been using D'Addario exclusively for 15+ years and I'm very happy with their performance. This set is equivalent to the 10-46 plus a 59 ga. 7th string, which works great in 26.5" scale guitars but might be too tight on 25.5". That said, I find the 1st and 2nd strings just a little bit too taut even on Bb-standard tuning, but this is personal preference. This set works great for heavier genres without the need to use an absurdly fat 7th string. Beware that fitting the 59 ga. required filing a standard GraphTech nut.
This is my go-to set for my 7 string guitar (25.5" scale) standard tuning. I experimented with other brands/sets in the past but nothing beats these. They last the longest for me and the tension feels just right.
I've always liked these strings - bright, long-lasting (for my particular hands), and a decent price point.
Exactly the right tension for my 25.4" scale guitars - Standard B tuning.
The strings scream! The punch and clarity are amazing, they hold tune very well and the color-coded system makes it crazy easy to put them on.
Compared to Ernie Ball and Pyramid, these have the best sound of any 7 string set, and I like that the lowest string is a bit bigger at .59
Though a bit too expensive for everyday usage & practice, I would definitely use them for recordings.
