It does the job yes but I question the "double bubble" design instead of a flat surface. It makes the plastic come scarily close to the tonearm if you leave it on while playing.
Another lost opportunity is the fact that you can't attach the original hinges on this. Such an obvious thing to do, and it really impacts the usability of this item.
I have a bunch of decksavers for various gear and am happy with most of them, but they could have thought this one through a little bit better.
No chance to get dust cos is so sealed!!! Only remember to put the tonearm back on the armrest before cover the turntable, cos the profile of the cover is lower in the middle so there is a danger of squeezing down the tonearm. Also, DO NOT use this dust cover during playing your records for the same reason.
Decksavers replaced original Technics MK-2 dust covers which stud the test of time for at least 20 years.
They feel really sturdy and at the same time they are flexible which makes them hard to break. With the flat design they come really handy in tight spaces as you can safely put controllers or laptop on the top of your turntables. That was really tricky with original dust covers because of the tonearm bulb in the upper right corner.
Like many 1200 owners, I've misplaced my original cover. Sad indeed, but this cover is a very good replacement. It doesn't have hinges, but it's really durable and keeps your precious 1200s clean and the tonearm and pickup safe from kids and falling objects.
Was about to purchase classic Technics cover (over €100 a pcs.) but thought of a better and cheaper way - good ol' decksaver.
It is better not to use the player with a lid on so you'd remove the cover (as per manual). Hence the lid would used the same as the decksaver.
Fits M3D perfectly.
Saves from dust.
Things can be put on top.
Robust dust cover and it doesn't move around. Quite annoying without any sort of hinge mechanism tho. And yes, they could definitely looked over the aesthetics one more time, not the cleanest shape I've seen. Anyway, it does the job. +++
