I was in need of some particular lengths of Doepfer cables for my portable Eurorack and these fit the bill perfectly!
I have a tool/camera case converted for portable Eurorack use and needed to take it on a flight. As such I didn't want to be taking all my 3 ft leads and wanted to keep cable clutter down for demonstration at my destination.
These were perfect. I know some modules don't play nice with Doepfers choice of jack but personally I have not had a single issue. These are low cost and low feature - until you need that exact length and then they are just perfect!
Pros - exactly what I needed when I needed them. I haven't needed them for 7 years but I did this year and they were perfect! Good value for money. Consider also a dense patch - the Doepfer cables have a very narrow 'barrel' so you can get at your modules knobs without too much clutter. Many higher cost 'braided' cables have a lot of plastic around the shaft and can make patching two close together a mechanical strain on the jack sockets - not so with these.
Cons - Some modules dont seem to lock the jack end in fully and can lead (sic) to a feeling that the cable will fall out from the module. I don't know if this was a thing with initial Doepfer cables or with the modules themselves but I did not have an issue at all with these cables.
As soon as I need more I will be buying these cables instantly. I have a number of Doepfer cables I bought with my initial entry into Eurorack 7 years ago and not had one go bad yet. I have bought fancy, multi coloured cables from other manufacturers that arrived DOA.
I have bought 10 of thease to go with Erica Synths Pico system 3 & they are perfect. One thing to keep in mind for beginners is that if you only use one colour cables it is hard to keep track on what goes where!
I use these to connect my metronome with my amp or multi-effects pedal. This cable just has the perfect length for the metronome to be close by, without having too much line dangling around.
not the most solid patch cable but the cheapest :) I use it in my modular for other CV than audio signal, e.g. enveloppes, sequencer CV, triggers, LFOs, clock pulses, etc
Bought 25 of these cables and they're pretty good quality with the exception of one, (for this one the jack pops out of some of my module sockets on occasion, kinda weird feature actually ;)
Best thing is that the jacks are pretty small so works good with limited panel space. Worst thing is that you don't get to have a mixed selection of colours on the same order e.g. 25 of mixed colours would be nice for the discount...
A bit harder to get a connection than most of my other euro rack cables because some of them sometimes wants to pop out from the sockets of the modules.. All in all they usually work well.
