This price represents how prices should be at every other chassis.
The only thing i dont like is the front LEDs , they are very annoyingly bright and the yellow color of the one at the right is not in my taste, i would prefer a green.
The frond power switch goes to ''off'' undesirably easily than it goes to ''on''
All these are minor issues that could be improved.
The unit is pretty good with some nice, sparkly lights. However, I have used it with an API 512c and it does not fit correctly as I can only screw in one of the screws to hold it in place. The 500 series unit still works perfectly though so it's not such a big issue and a lot cheaper than the API Lunchbox for those of us who just want a couple of 500 series units.
I haven't tried it with any other 500 series units but I presume the Fredenstein units would fit perfectly.
Overall I am happy with the unit but the fact that the API 512c does not fit correctly is a bit annoying but, hopefully, will not cause any cosmetic damage to the API 512c.
I have just received mine and first it looks good solid quality. Then I plugged 1 module and got hum noise. After investigating the module I checked the PSU and it seems to be the source. I have then looked on forum and yes it seems to be a recurring issue with fredenstein bentos. I guess you cant get quality at this price.
The overall rating for Bento2 is good albeit i had some minor issues due to its not perfectly fitting the Neve 1073LB module putting it into place. In fact Bento blank space ain't large enough for an easy sliding of the side screws. So it takes some thumbs pressure to make it fit. Out of this, the rack does its job in a flawless way and i haven't got any problem about functionality.
Very handy and well made, nice to find a simple x2 500 module box. My only criticism is that the lights on the front of the unit are very bright if your sitting directly in front of them, especially if the unit is for a studio with low lighting.
I bought this unit to handle API 512c pre. As part of Thomann 500 series bundle it came with ?60 discount that made the price absolutely fantastic.
Design is simple and looks solidly-built. Being used for a month and no problems found.
This is a fantastic unit. I bought it so I can take a recording channel out on remote sessions. Much easier and lighter than taking my whole 500 rack. Very easy to saw in and out modules, This unit is brilliant and great value.
