You know how it is. It's 3am, you've had half a lager shandy, and you find yourself bidding on ebay for a 100 year old bowlback mandolin that you don't really need but which looks really cute and is a) cheap and b) claimed to be playable.

Then you win the auction, the instrument arrives, and you realise immediately that you need some way to store the thing. Not only that but it's not really playable above the 7th fret and it's definitely haunted. Probably.

This is the case you are looking for. Holds bowlbacks. Even 100 year old bowlbacks. No ghost infestations. Does not fix the 7th fret issue, but it's a case, not a luthier. It's the case you'll transport the instrument in when you finally get around to taking it to the luthier.

If that ever happens.

relatively expensive but quality

Quality case for bowl back mandolins, it's relatively expensive compared to other options but you get what you pay for. Key locks are not great as is the case in most instrument cases but a good key lock would cost more than this case anyway...

L'étui est très pratique et convient parfaitement à une mandoline napolitaine ancienne (vers 1900) de 60 cm, c'est à dire la taille classique pour des mandolines de cette époque. Pour info les mesures internes de l'étui sont de 68 cm max pour la longueur du corps et 21,5-22 cm pour la largueur.
Les plus : les fermetures sont bien montées, de bonne qualité et l'étui ferme très bien. La mousse sous le revêtement en velours réellement "molle", ce qui permet un calage parfait en douceur. L'étui en bois recouvert de vinyle a l'air très solide. Compte tenu de la rareté de ce type d'étui c'est très bien. Ma mandoline ne bouge pas du tout et est parfaitement à la mesure.
Les contres : la finition des collages du vinyle, de la mousse et d'une frise de décoration sont un peu en dessous, mais rien de rédhibitoire.
Globalement c'est positif.
