Pro’s: great fat neck, thick body, no weight relief. Paintjob, goldtop color is faultless. Feels really well, neck is great fat and comfortable. Pots, electronics work well, all quality stuff.
Con’s: nut had to be adjusted and rounded around the edges, same as the neck and neck binding around 1st to 3rd fret as it was vert sharp and uncomfortable. I had to get the pickups upgraded to Dimarzio PAF’s because I did not like the buzzy distorted sound of these Alnico 2 burst buckers, though this is really down to personal taste. I also got the tuning keys replaced eventually to Grover, the factory Kluson-style tuners were sharp around the edges, felt really cheap.
Conclusion : with these modification this guitar became a custom shop level, working man’s instrument that sounds great clean and distorted. It’s no longer a SlashPaul though, rather a slightly modded Goldtop Gibson LP Standard. Without these upgrades, I would have probably returned this instrument.
