The pickguard itself is great quality. But it must be noted that this is a replacement part for Fender guitars or guitars that have screwholes based on Fender guitars. It is NOT a replacement for Harley Benton HSS guitars as I originally thought, and this should be noted in the description.
If you want to use this on a Harley Benton, you will have to drill some extra screwholes in and it may not look as you would expect.
Disappointed with this, the reason I brought this from German and paid £8 postage (the same price to ship a guitar) was because it was meant to be a Harley Benton part. I was expecting the holes to line up and that I didn`t have to file edges off.
Just buy a cheap one of ebay at half the price, its the same thing.
While on the search for that Pink Floyd The Black Strat look, I came across this Harley Benton Parts Pickguard SSH BLK quite a few times but initially passed it over thinking it'd be somehow of a lower quality.
It turns out that sadly, I was right about the slightly lower quality of this pickguard. Within a few days of playing the area between the neck and middle pickup was scratched up to a grey color. Turns out this pickguard scratches very, very easily.
Overall a nice pickguard that has a great finish, looks good and lines up nicely on an old Squier I have recently fitted out with a humbucker.
Only Cons are its a bit flimsy and as is the way with alot of pickguards is the holes for the screws were poorly manufactured and slightly off centre with existing body holes (or out completely).
Luckily the guitar I was putting on is a beat up, cheap squier so I didn't mind putting a extra hole or two in the body to accommodate, however I would NOT put it on my american fender as I wouldn't want to drill additional unnecessary holes in the body. Hidden under the plate or not.
Used this on squier bullet, did some cutting near neck to push it bit forward cause some screw holes did not align, as it is with most HB cheap parts. Also white line could have been little wider , a bit too tiny but still can be seen. For the price it's decent
When buying a Stratocaster, I wanted to somehow unify it and immediately ordered a Piccard, the standard is white. I decided to order black. Picgard is great, everything is smooth and beautiful, everything will fall into place. I gave it to my workshop and it was printed on UV-printed design made by me. So now my guitar will be very unique.
You became bored with the look of your pickguard and you need a change?
Your old pickguard is full of scratches and you need to replace it?
You are planning and upgrade from single coil to humbacker?
If you don't seek for a high-end tortoise shell pickguard and you are fine with a solid black colour at budget cost then we have a winner.
The pickguard is well made, all edges are smooth and everything looks alright, but the screw aligments are unfortunately not a match for MIM standard strats, at least not mine.
No other issues though.
Good quality perfect fit for my Harley Benton strat. No mods necessary as with a lot of aftermarket pickguards. Might not work without some customization on other brands.
I needed HSS pickguard for my SSS strat when i put in humbucker in bridge position. fitment is excelent, the holes for screws are positioned exactly the same as Strat and it was protected with foil.
as always, HB best price performance ratio.
