I was looking for a perfect rockabilly-like slapback delay for my guitar, and I found the perfect one !
The JHS Milkman Delay Boost is a delay pedal co-created by the famous Milkman amplifier brand. It is meant to be a delay specially created to be used as a slapback, with very short time range and repeat. It also feature an EQ pot, which is more like a "tape aging" knob. It's also a nice boost with an independant footswitch.
The delay itself is really nice, warm and organic, the EQ setting really helps finding a tape echo feel.
The time setting is obviously too short to be anything else than a slapback, you got what you payed for.
More than the time setting, it's the repeat that I found too short... Impossible to achieve more than 2 repeat and a half, a bit short if you're looking for some psychedelic sound..
The boost is perfect, just as clean as it needs to with a really subtle "micro-amp" vide. Since this pedal is always on for me and is at the end of my pedalboard, I use it as a master volume before the amp, it's working out fine so far, allows me to choose how much I want to crank up the amp while going all the way up inside my other pedals.
I used to have a Strymon El Capistan but right now, the JHS is the one I need, old school but clear and well-defined, and also really easy to use.
