I'm a field recordist and I have used this bar a lot, and dragged it everywhere in the world, into the Savannah, rain forest, Subarctic Tundra, cities, and in the studio. I like it so much, I actually just bought a second one.
It's simplicity is it's strenght. just a strong and sturdy bar that fits into most backpacks, and can take quite a beating. It has the perfect lenght to set up an AB setup, omni or Cardioid, and the middle holes allow you to do an XY or ORTF, and you can put both of those on together.
The connections are great for most microphones, even with small blimps. It's also easy to quickly readjust the mic position. My only problem with it is that is not ideal for mounting two big blimps on for outdoor recording in the wild. While it works, the screws loosen slightly every time you move the setup, and you are readjusting the rig every time. But in all other uses, small blimps, no blimps, it works very well, as long as you can live with the fact that you have to estimate the angles and distances of your mics a bit.
I often just use small lavaliers on it as an Omni AB, and just connect the mics with a bit of electrical tape, or a custom made clip.
For on the road (or rather, off the road), and for this price, this is a great little stereo bar.
