A really well balanced pair of beaters with excellent finger grips on the ends of the handles. They give the feeling of being very light with what seem like hardwood shafts at the same time as having a sensible weight on the business end. I bought these with a view to adding a home made soft cover over the heads in a bid to reduce the impact sound when playing a gong. I am really impressed with the balance of these beaters and I achieved my aim of reducing the impact sound.
These sticks are great, definatley would advise these over the SC1's as these in my opinion are a little too hard for the softest that mike balter offer but as I said a great pair.
Small blemish on arrival but was sorted out quickly by thomann :)
I can't vouch for how these would work in an orchestral setting, as I use them for pop music behind a drum set. That said, they're great for what I use them for, which is adding cymbal swells to ballads. They're very well built, and they have exactly the right attack for what I'm trying to do.
These cymbal beaters are good for getting a soft sound for your cymbal crescendos. They are built solid and strong and look like they will last a good few years.
I found they work better on crash cymbals for crescendos than on ride cymbals. I bought a crash/ride cymbal by paiste pst 5 which turned out to be more of a ride cymbal than a crash cymbal so I will need to get myself a crash cymbal to get the best out of these cymbal beaters.
