Easy to install and all the optional Adam Hall accessories fit perfectly. The matte black color looks great. I use it for 2 racks + my sound card. I can recommend it. If you have never mounted a rack, you will struggle to insert the cage nut (Adam Hall 565) in the rack. It's easy if you use a small screw driver and push it slowly. You don't have to buy the cage nut puller tool. Here is a Youtube video ( 1:20) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVUvNzZGlLo
I bought this to house my sound card, bass head/preamp and a power conditioner on my desk, and for that it works nicely. I placed my laptop on top of it (with a slip prevention mat).
Pros:
- Cheap
Cons:
- Wobbles a bit without anything in it (but attaching the rack gear stabilizes it nicely).
- remember to buy the screws etc. separately
Overall:
- Happy with my purchase, it cleaned up my desk nicely. Still has room for more rack gear ;)
Due to no folded metal on the rear the unit is weak and flimsy. A fold would give strength but the material is very thin. I would not recommend placing anything of weight on top. One edge is sharp and cut my hand on unpacking. Too be honest for the same price or less better can be found. I purchased this to take my order value up to free postage saved £10 shipping so that counts off the cost but it will need an edge sanded and frame riveted in back. All in all not up to the quality normally get from here.
It does the job, inside. Certainly at that price, can't complain.
Just don't attempt to stack much on top. I have a simple turntable on there, and without the leveling I've put in between and which distributes the weight, the steel visibly sags in the middle.
i bought three of these and stacked them. it looks like a proper rack but they are not glued together so it is a bit dangerous if you are not careful around them. moved on to proper rack chassis now but these are great for you to start with
I have a couple of DBX 286s, and one buzzes a little. I wanted to neaten up my studio and also enclose the units to quieten the buzz. This unit was perfect and also a great price.
A functional and no-nonsense rack case. Not as robust or stable as higher-end ones, but perfectly functional (especially for smaller/lighter rack units) and a steal for the price. Highly recommended.
It does what it should. Fits the 19'' units I have well, I had no problem screwing anything in and it doesn't wobble once screwed in.
Only two cons for me. One is the lack of rubber legs (I guess I can attach them myself) and the other one is the softness of the alu. Try not to put too much weight on top, except if it's another rack that evenly spreads out the weight.
