It's a good instrument for someone who would like to move toward historically informed practices by playing with other HIP enthusiasts in 415. Besides, it worked well in some modern experiments including multiphonics and simultaneous singing. The tone sounds very sweet in big rooms. The upper register (above f3) speaks very well. However, it's definitely not an instrument for a professional who needs pro quality for important performances or recordings. Also, I'm not sure if it's even possible to play on this some very fast virtuoso part like in Vivaldi's concertos (I tried but fast wide passages tend to cause cracks in the sound). Anyway, it's a good quality-to-price ratio.

very good, very resonable Price!

A very good flute at a sensational low price for an instrument in the 415 pitch. The finish (soaked with wax and varnished) is a bit dazzling, but you can't expect more at this price.
A very nice upper register, but also the lowest sounds quite strong. It "absorbs" air very comfortably .
I bought this recorder as a second recorder when I went on a 2 day course as I did not want to play just one recorder continuously. It has a lovely tone and is nice to play. It has an even tone across the range. However I find it harder to play fast notes in the upper registers on this recorder compared to my other recorder. It was a relatively cheap recorder at 415hz. I am pleased with my purchase as it fulfilled my requirements but I do consider it a backup rather than main recorder to play. In future I shall probably use it to help to learn vocal music at 415hz.
The pear wood 415 alto by Mollenhauer is a great entry level recorder for early music enthusiasts and amateurs. It is a bit bigger in the hand than the Moeck Rottenburgh altos but not unwieldy. The response and tone develops more over time.
