When I first started out in sound, XLRs connectors had lots of fiddly little screws which were prone to falling out. And the cable clamps were pathetic and didn't grip the cable very well. Then Neutrik came along and revolutionised things. Just four parts, no screws, and an excellent self-adjusting cable clamp that suits a wide range of cable diameters. Neutrik XLRs are used by every professional PA company, recording studio, and broadcaster, for good reason. They are well-made, reliable, and easy to assemble. There really is no alternative. This is a four-pin one - not the usual sort for audio, but I needed it for a power supply. There is now a newer design (the XX series) which is slightly better, but either style is top quality and I wouldn't use anything else.
