Bought two to connect my Focusrite Saffire to my Behringer ADA8000. Had all sorts of problems and eventually it seemed that one cable was dead. The replacement seemed better but I still got different results from each cable (which obviously shouldn't be the case with digital cable).
I was sent a replacement Mutec cable instead and realised that by comparison, the connectors on the sssnake cable were very loose fitting. The Mutec locks in firmly, but the sssnake cables wobble.
Spent a lot of time trying to track this down and given my experiences with the sssnake microphone cables I bought a while back, I would probably avoid sssnake cables in future.
The cable I received doesn't fit tightly, so falls out of standard ADAT sockets (Orion 32 -> TC Electronic BMC-2), it also doesn't seem to work.... don't buy these optical cables, the are really poor quality, they look flashy but aren't...
Linking a synth with an optical out to a converter and then to a sound card....

I bought this to link my KORG Triton Extreme's digital out to a converter to go into my desk. The reason for this was that the KTE's analogue out was quite noisy. This has solved the problem. The noise is far, far less with this set up.
The cable has allowed a decent distance to be reached between the KTE and the mixer; the only other optical cables I had at my disposal were short (probably about 75cm - 1m) which did not allow a stretch to the mixer (other than having an extended audio cable from the converter to the mixer.)
I recommend this cable to anyone wanting to extend the reach of their optical ins and outs!
These cables are very robust, and have a heavy protective sheath, with metal plugs at either end. They have gold plated 'contacts' though as this is an optical cable I am not sure this is a particular advantage, but very well made and good value for money for sure!
The metal connector on these is usually too tight to fit in the port, and I have to use quite some force to push it in. I've had port replaced on some unit because of this, and I'm afraid to do it again. On another occasion I've used a tool (file) to reduce the connector's size. Maybe a plastic connector is more flexible.
Like all Thomann's range of budget priced cables these are great for non rigorous studio duty. I have a few of these in a couple of different lengths. thery are well made and handle easily, unlike many other cables of this type in this price bracket which often can be prone to kinking and twisting.
I already have the same cable for the last 5 years. No problems whatsoever, the cable is thick but soft, like a rubber feel to it. Never had any ADAT dropouts or anything.
