I purchased this rode boom pole a while ago from Thomann. I have been using this boom pole in my location recording for films and TV. This is an extremely lightweight carbon fiber boom up to 3 meters in length. Very easy to extend and shorten. It has the option to run the XLR cable from the inside of the pole which can save you the hassle to twist the cable around the pole and potentially introduce some noise when operating the boom pole with a loose XLR cable.
There are no cons really for this Rode boom pole, really simple lightweight and comfortable to operate. I do recommend this product.
Overall is a good product. I work in the audiovisual industry and have been testing in high wind conditions for quite a moment, very stable though the plastic and clumsy feel of the locks are not a valuable selling argument. However, the light weight is to be considered as well if you need to record for a whole day.
PROS:
The Length of the extension
The light weight
CONS
The clumsy locks
Complicated if you need to insert your mic cable through the pole
It takes quite long with unscrewing etc
Overall this product is a very good investment to consider for low/medium budget production which leaves you enough money to invest on a good mic and fur.
It is quite good concidering the low price. Locking mechanism is a bit cheap tho. You can lock the pole by rotating mechanism and its a bit tricky when you want to unlock or lock the last one, because pole rotates no matter if it is locked or not. But for me low price is more important than this fault. It is very low wight compared to aluminium. One adjustment i had to make: put some foam tape on handling area to isolate sound from my hands.
