i've had this instrument for several months so i feel like i can give an accurate review
- downsides:
1. really big and clunky case (without room for scores or mutes) though i'm fairly sure i could toss this instrument from the third flour and it would be fine
2. bad moutpiece, so seriously take the money you save when you buy this and get a decent mouthpiece
3. bad oil: the rotary oil included with this instrument actually slowed down the movement, use good oil and plenty of it.
4. The instrument struggles with intonation around the high C#, not impossible to hit but unsure at all times.
BUT
i never suspected they could make an instrument like this at this pricepoint, this make the paxman academy i used to play sound like dogshit. it's really easy to tune and has a decent range both low and high. While i feel the instrument request more air than i was used to it is deffinitely a worthwile trade-off. Everyone who has tried it said it was quite ok, until they heard the pricepoint at which point they thought it was amazing.
TLDR:
Will this replace your Alexander or Hoyer? HAHAHA no.
Will this deliver a good to very good experience for a 5th to a 10th of the price? yes.
I advise this instrument to anyone starting with french horn or who like me nees an instrument to bridge several years untill a bigger purchase.
