Vovox sonorus direct S100 XLR/XLR

As always with Vovox 'you pays the price', you get the quality you require.
Nothing much more to say than, if working with high end gear such as the U87 or AKG 414 mics ( a Brauner VM1 is on my list) into Neve 1073 and Urei 1176, it is essential in my opinion that there is NO compromise with leads, plugs and connections. These are the Bee's Knees or the Dog's Bo**ox allowing us to completely worry about something else in the vocal chain, as one does : ) They provide the best screening, are flexible enough and of course refreshingly great to behold if at all visible. No risk of damage through kinking either. Super clean signal being of course the real reason for these pricey but high performing cables.

When using these on the return input of my 2 buss to my AD+ I felt it collapsed the stereo image a little, Top end did open up a little more but in comparison to the Van Damme it altered the sound too much. Some could say it didn't alter but gave a truer representation but I do mean what I said.

I tested by comparing on a AD\DA feedback loop between apollo X16 and AD+ and the Van Damme stayed truer to the original sound, could be due to interference but who knows ....

Build quality however is flawless, and they look great, maybe they can work well for speakers

I really like Vovox cables and have plenty... The quality is outstanding. When it comes to the question if Vovox cables sound better, I came to the conclusion that the word 'different' may be more appropriate. To my ears the Vovox cables sound a bit more transparent with more top end. Then comes the question if you really want/need more clarity and top end... Sometimes you may prefer a cable that sounds a bit "warmer".
Lately I recorded a female vocal with a U87 into a 1073 into a CL- 1b into Converter. I used 3 vovox cables. The singer thought her voice sounded a bit aggressive. I changed the Vovox cables to another well known premium brand and the singer was happy...
Conclusion: It really depends what you are looking for.
