Gewa Prestige Bass Gig Bag 3/4

OK, I won't really know how good this case is until I've seen how it holds up after a year or two. The reason I chose it over the Thomann was the mention of YKK zips and thicker padding. I already have a Thomann BG case and it's superb. And so is this. Firstly, the zips - they feel top quality although they don't have YKK logo on them. They also extend around the top of the scroll. This makes it so so so much easier to get the bass in the case and especially lifting it out of the case. The exterior fabric and stitching, handle placement all look to the good. There is a very sensible design around the end pin: reinforced piping and velcro straps either side. Backstraps - well hell, I don't know why these are put on any case because they are somewhat impractical - they work but... paddding and interior all adequate and there is enough room for more generously sized basses too. But the real bonus is the weight - it is so so light. This makes it so much easier to handle the bass. And that makes it safer for you and your bass. There are lighter, but the lightest thing about those cases is your wallet afterwards. This was cheaper than my previous case, and yet a huge step up. I'm very pleased.

I have been using this for a couple of weeks now.I had three previous cheaper cases and it was always the zips that failed, especially where the cases were only just big enough for the bass.

I am using a Thomann 33AS 3/4 double bass. The Gewa case has plenty of space which means the zips are not under strain. The bow holder pocket has a rigid felt covered box inside it to protect the bow, this is a nice touch.

There are various handles in all the places that you would like them. I often carry my bass upright using a side should handle together with the front middle handle. The handles seem to be of good quality, but obviously time will tell.

There are cheaper cases, but I am pleased that I spent a little bit more and got a decent quality one.

I am very sorry to have to return my new bag. In fact, I have been using the Gewa Prestige bag for 9 years. I am very satisfied with her. Everything still works on it, only now it has become very thin and worn out. I play over 200 gigs a year. I've been with her on ski resorts, mountains, seas... low temperatures... high. I am very satisfied with the old bag. So without thinking, I ordered a new same bag. When it arrived, I was very pleased at first glance. However, when I analyzed it a little better, I concluded that it was no longer that quality and level of security. So the crafting is ok. The pockets are also ok, except this one for the bow - barely fits a German bow. The zippers are of good quality. But the buckles and straps are very thin, poorly attached and of poor quality. And that is one of the most important things! I don't even want to think about it breaking while I'm carrying my double bass. It's too much of a risk for me and my double bass. Unfortunately, I had to return the product. I have now reviewed all the offers again and decided to order Roth & Junius. It seems much safer to me. I'll be happy if it lasts half as long as my old Gewa Prestige bag. I hope that the manufacturers will strengthen the belt with rivets and replace the thin links with thicker ones. I wrote this with the best of intentions.

Gute Qualität aber leider nicht passend für meine Oma und Wünsche an Tragekomfort.
Im Detail:
Die Verarbeitung der Tasche ist sehr gut, soweit ich das sehen konnte. Leider war sie zu groß für meine Oma. Das war der Hauptpunkt für die Rückgabe der Tasche.
Die Polsterung, Griffe und Reißverschlüsse machen einen guten Eindruck. Das Bogenfach wirkt zwar schön stabil aber meinen deutschen Bogen hätte ich nur mit Kraftaufwand rei und wieder rausbekommen. Meinen französischen Bogen musste ich mit langen Fingern wieder rausangeln, was auch nicht so gut ging. Vermutlich kann man das eingesetzte Fach auch rausnehmen und den Bögen mit eigenem Case reintun. Dann sollte es gut klappen.
Einen vernünftigen Schultergurt hat die Tasche nicht dabei und die Rucksackgarnitur ist fest angebracht. Da ich die nicht benutze war sie mir eher im Weg. Einen "Koffergriff" mit dem man den Bass einhändig horizontal tragen kann hat sie nicht.
