The guitar top / sides / neck finish is pretty good. The locking mechanism is a little cheap looking / sounding and there are careless elements to the construction such as wonky truss rod screws. The locking hole on the neck seems hand filed but not very well.
The 'Handcrafted in China' nonsense irritated me - hand crafted is only a selling point if the 'craftsmen' are highly skilled. At this price point and quality it's Made in China and nothing more.
The sound is quite loud but boxy, but the bigger problem is I just didn't find it a pleasure to play. I have a Taylor GS Mini and the materials and finish on that is much better for not much more.
I think this will work fine as a campfire guitar to hand round, but if you appreciate the finish and feel of an instrument while playing (or you've got a decent guitar at home) then spend more and go for something better finished. I'm going to try a Furch Little Jane and failing that, save up for a Brunner Compact.
Yes I love my yourney puddle jumper , will be bringing it to Newzealand Soon fantastic that finally have guitar I can put in the overhead without worrying about it ,limerick Ron ..........
It arrived very packaged with the the necessary instructions for assemble, not problem whatsoever. After putting it together (takes a minute or 2 only) I tuned it, left it for about 10 minutes, retuned and it stayed in tune. This approach I follow every time I reassemble it. Sound is good for the size and the volume excellent. Used in public and it was well received.
It is important to note that the webiste help and tips regarding the PJ410 is excellent.
The guitar is small but feels really nice to play and the sound for such a small body is impressive. You're not getting dreadnought sound and bass but it's much closer than I thought it would be. It has more bass and a louder sound than larger guitars I've had.
