NS Design WAV4 Violin Amberburst Gloss

As a bass guitarist of some years I decided without any forethought to buy a violin - as I have all the necessary amplification and effects - I read music (bass and treble clef) and I have a good nimble left hand I was excited to learn something new. So after much research on You Tube I decided to order the NS Wav. The instrument arrived on time and in good order - tuned up plugged in and bowed my first note.... not a sound !! Plucking the string produced a very nice sound but nothing with the bow. Back to Yuo Tube and discovered I need to 'rosin the bow'. All guitar effects sound amazing on this violin. Sustain as long as you like. 'Echo' and 'Reverb' - wonderful plus all the other effects available I decided to get a non active instrument - my amps are powerful enough though for practice my little Fender Champion 30watt is fine. You can also practice 'unplugged' - the instrument is easily hearable should not disturb others. However, conversion from guitar and in my case bass guitar is not easy - the wrist has to be bent further. Tuning is a dream via the patented micro tuners (and it stays in tune). No batteries to worry about (not active). It has volume and a tone control. The chin and shoulder rests take some getting used to. The only real problem regarding the shoulder rest is that you have to take it off the violin if you want to pack the violin in it's case. I love the shape and colour. One funny thing is that the chin and shoulder rest settings for me are such that the violin balances on the floor very well without a stand - try doing that with bass or guitar.

Vraiment agréablement surpris par ce violon. Déjà un aspect vraiment bien, très épuré avec une belle finition. La housse est très pratique, bien conçue et elle protège bien l'instrument. Seul bémol, l'archet n'est pas livré avec...
Ensuite le son. Je le branche sur mon Roland Micro Cube RX, en son clair avec une légère réverb et c'est vraiment génial. Le son est présent, réaliste et on oublie rapidement l'absence de caisse de résonance.
Je referais ce choix sans hésiter =)

Die Violine ist ein empfehlenswertes und schönes Instrument zum leisen Üben für Zuhause oder zur Performance. Saubere Verarbeitung - trotz Billiglohnmodus im Produktionsland hat man das Gefühl, nicht nur optisch ein feines und edles Instrument zu haben. Der Koffer könnte für den Bogen eine etwas geschütztere Lagerung bieten, die vorgesehene Breite der Vertiefung reicht nicht ganz für die Länge des Bogens, so muss man die Haare nach oben drehen, die mir in der Position anfällig für Verfettung erscheinen, auch fehlt ein kleines Fach für Saiten und Kolophonium im Innenraum. Bisschen funktionelles Denken schadet nicht beim Design eines Koffers. Das häufige An-und Abschrauben der Schulterstütze fördert möglicherweise den Verschleiss der Feststellmechanik. Deshalb die Violine lieber ausserhalb des Koffers lagern, man kann sie gut hinstellen. Wenn man länger was davon haben will sollte man den Koffer nur zum Transport verwendenden...ansonsten bin ich begeistert von dem Instrument. Es klingt sehr natürlich und das Gewicht fühlt sich stabil an. Die Geige bietet, was man braucht, der Rest ist eine Frage der Einstellung.
