Bought this as a gift to myself after growing tired of my G-maple SLP and what an upgrade it was.
Seamless acrylic shell with a soft 45 degree lightly rounded bearing edge, Smokey black nickel hardware, high mass die cast hoops - the heaviest I’ve played by a long shot! - and even some newer features like the thumb-press snare strainer. This thing sounds light years better than any wooden snare I’ve played.
The shell depth adds a real power behind rim shots at medium- high tuning with unparalleled attack and cut. For some softer dynamics I could see this being a touch invasive, luckily the tuning range is quite versatile - though to my ears it didn’t sound best at low tunings.
I’m using this with a UV1 tune up kit and it’s easily the most impressive sounding snare to date, and easily rivals the dryer wooden snares.
