The quality of the instrument is really great. A good quality case with rollers, and everything played perfectly out of the box. A few things to watch out for when buying:
1. It's a *very* heavy instrument. I'm a 6-foot tall male, and didn't think it would be a problem. However, the neck-strap that comes with it is very sore to use and even a strap-harness left me with back pain. I recommend to invest in a JazzLab solid harness if using this instrument.
2. I'm not an experienced baritone player, but the instrument seems to play generally flat (vs 440 Hz). Even with the mouthpiece pushed on to the crook as far as it will go, it is still playing slightly flat. I though this might be a problem with the mouthpiece that comes with it, but even with a quality Selmer mouthpiece, the same problem. This is unusual because the general intonation (how in-tune each individual note is) seems good across the range. For the few times a year I need to play the instrument in a band, it's not a serious problem, but players looking to this as a 'main' instrument, may want to check the tuning prior to purchase.
