If you use samplers, keyboards and drum M/C's . This is not the multitrack recorder for you (only 2 combo jacks , 6 xlr). If you are a guitarist or in a small band, this may be perfect. My old multitrack recorder is 20 odd years old, but limited by zip disks and track count. The Zoom R20 is a perfect upgrade. Uses up to 1tb SD cards, comes with cubase and perfect for transferring to and from the PC.
The touch screen is the business and makes quick editing and track transfers easy. I still got to get my head around it as only just received it but liking it so far, came with unwieldy UK plug adapter but no UK user booklet. Not a problem as the pdf is on the zoom web page.
It's been a few years since I bought any gear, the last time I ordered from Thomann the tracking number would trace from Germany through to the UK, but now only tracks from UK customs. So I was a bit concerned first off that my tracking number didn't register. But my concerns were unfounded and Thomann pulled the rabbit out of the hat once again, with good prices and quick delivery. It came a few days quicker than expected.
Thanks Thomann :)

Bought this as I am not a huge fan of DAW anymore. I didn't require all the features of a DAW like plugins and such. This unit gives me 16 tracks and an easy to use interface. I have a vision impairment and although the screen is a little small,it is perfectly usable. For me personally it's a nice compromise between old school tape multi trackers and digital ones. Very happy with mine. I would like to see an Android version of the wireless interface but the R20 alone gets 5s across the board. Nice job.

But falling short on capacity. Definitely needs more processor to keep up with all its own features. Prepare a large cup of patience to drink while it "thinks" every single step of editing you order it to do from the third track further. Easy to have it quitting those "thoughts" and lazying into "error", actually.
It cuts, it trims, it nudges to properly sync the bass player (eheh) to tempo, ..all sorts of cool tricks you'd be doing with your DAW only before; but... as I said, with time consuming effort after it starts becoming a little more complex.
It's understandable, I guess.
Other than that... awesome recorder, cool effects, A LOT of excellent features you can read about somewhere else that make it an almost all-in-one recording studio, ...till the moment good solid (full-plastic) sturdiness, great touch screen, no complaints. Really.
Still, one star taken for its "brain".
