Ira Nepus Softone Mute Trombone 7.5"

I was expecting this to be more free blowing at the expense of slightly more sound… however.. the mute is stuffy, particularly at higher registers and you feel like you have to blow harder. I got this to replace a lost plastic best brass mute which actually worked really fine…should have just replaced the lost item.
The best brass can stay in the bell and as such be easily carried in any case… but this collapsible mute cannot be left on the bell, although it does fold up, but it is quite bulky.
The mute is actually quite tricky to slip over the bell as you hold the trombone with one hand and have to somehow stretch it over the bell with the other..
I feel it is expensive just for a piece of sewn together neoprene…
But, the plus side… if you get a red one it doubles as a pretty good and warm Fez.
I’ve just ordered a replacement junior best brass mute.. plastic, light and easy to use, no problem for intonation issues… and it doesn’t sound stuffy.
