With a Les Paul and a clean amp I was easily able to dial Gary Moore tone, or that saturated Slash Sweet Child O'Mine lead. Also sounds well on low gain or paired with an OD / boost as a sacrifice to the gods of drive.
The effects loop is useful especially if you use it as a lead channel to add a delay or whatever you want - it'll be always on when the Guv'nor is engaged.
This is 1:1 reissue of the original Guv'nor with the exception of jack sockets and knobs.
Quite expensive, but it's a good price for a UK made effect of this quality, and versatility . Couldn't recommend more.

Sounds like a good Marshall pre-amp circuit but without the final touches to be classed as a market leading ‘Marshall in a box’ pedal. It’s a reissue of a classic design from some time ago but still holds its own with what’s on the market today. 3 band EQ is a huge plus but isn’t super powerful as expected with Marshall EQs. The output level is a little on the quiet side but no huge issue!
What is there to say about this Iconic pedal. My older brother had one from the late 80s. I have played on the original for 2 decades and I can tell you, after going through it for a month, the re-issue is the same, identical thing, I or my brother could not tell the difference.

Quand elle est sortie, je commençait tout juste la guitare et bien trop chère pour ma bourse de lycéen. J'avais une glingue à 100 balles (francs à l'époque) et je jouais sur l'entrée micro de ma chaîne hi-fi !
