I'd tried a few fat bluesdriver type overdrives and never quiet liked the grainy texture, so was looking for something smoother. This is why I like this pedal and it is firmly velcroed to my pedal board. The ODR-1 is really effective as a fat boost in the low gain but it can also be used for higher gain depending on your preference. At first I wasn't completely sure because it was a bit muddy, but once I used the BC internal switch I was convinced. The switch is easy to access and it gives a much better degree of clarity, especially when stacked with other drive/distortion pedals. The volume level is really easy to set in a chain, this is not always the case but the ODR does a great job.
I play a strat into a FHRD. It's a little bit larger than the standard pedal, so if you are going to squeeze it on a board you may need to adjust the other furniture :-)

I've had this overdrive for a couple months now and it's truly an inspiring pedal.
You can dial a lot of different tones going from a mild overdrive to almost distortion like tones.
The spectrum knob is at first a bit weird to dial in, because instead of EQ'ing between low and high frequencies, it boosts low mid and high frequencies together. The higher the spectrumknob, the higher the boost of the two frequencies. It can be a brittle sound of you turn it all the way up.
I like to boost the spectrum just past noon, the drive quite high and slam the pedal with a boss OD3 to accentuate a bit more mids.
The basscut switch inside is a cool feature but does not make that big of a difference I think.
A useful thing on the Nobels ODR-1 is that the batterycompartment is reachable from the front, this is handy if you need to change a battery on your pedalboard during rehaersals. I wish more companies did this, a really nice touch from nobels.
All and all a very good pedal, it certainly deserves the love it gets from a lot of people on the internet. Great product!

No, it's not the original. Yes, it sounds good...to me. If I had played this years ago then maybe I would have still have the original.
I play guitars with single coils and this pedal does a great job of adding some nice warm grit without a noticeable bump in the mid range. The spectrum knob it aptly titled as adjusts a broader frequency spectrum as you not just adding mids or cutting highs. The overdrive can definitely do rock, indie, country + gristle, and sprinkle new life into a lead.
I know the word transparent means something different to the many pedal makers but this one is pretty close.
The bass cut is a nice feature but I kicked it back on to keep my guitars from sounding too thin.
I rated the quality high but have only had the pedal for about 4 weeks so it has withstood the test of time...yet.
