I bought this rather than an 8-channel XLR box because the jacks allow one channel to be used as a return to stage for the mixer output. I also have some adaptors which allow XLR balanced signals to run through the jack channels.
I'm a light user so I won't commend on durability, other reviewers seem to think it's OK for the price (and it's a good price)
My LR Baggs acoustic guitar pickup seems to work pretty well plugged straight into one of the jack channels but I would tend to use a DI box, hence the adaptors.
This allows me to run a 7-channel + return PA or a 8 channels with a separate cable for the return, which is enough for most acoustic gigs. Much nicer than lots of long leads, even when the mixer is close to the performers in a pub or cafe.
I should have bought a cable reel with it and Thomann do a good cheap one which allows you to wind the mixer-end tails round a second external reel for tidiness.
I have the M6 and on a Behringer PMP300 with 8 inputs and I wanted to add a bit of extra input option so that I can feed all 8 XLR ins and some of the jack inputs or returns if needed. But it's nice to have the option to rig up light rather than lug a full multicore stage box about. These are really rugged bits of kit which get abused in live rigs and they seem to survive well due to the trapezoid design ... it's so tough. You know they get kicked about and walked on and beer spilled on them!
I can't tell you just how much difference this cable made to my facility. I speak of the headphone side...The cable I had been using for years lost a lot of signal volume and sparkle. The difference when I plugged this in was staggering.
The mic side of this cable works exactly as expected. It is clean so well shielded. I just wish I had bought one five years ago.
Pros:
Great build quality.
Transparent mic sound.
True audio to the headphones.
... The quality and price for this product are outstanding. I have a home studio Setup so this unit will not be road used but in a very safe enviroment, so far it has held up well and performs the task i needed it for :)
Good combo to have the jack and xlr in the same multicable. I use this to run mic and headphones to and from a mixer. The jack connections are very well constructed with lock in system. this helps with the stability of the connection.
Bought this to be able to put our sound guy at front of house.
It worked perfectly and the 4 jack + 4 XLR connections suited our needs exactly.
Suggestion for Thomann
8 cables/connections is good but a bit limiting for anything bigger than a 4 piece band. 12 connections would be better. A 4 jack + 8 XLR product would be really nice.
for a 4 piece band from stage to front of house.
perfect for wired inears or monitors.
High quality build and roadworthy!!
for this price its a real bargain.
1 negative: 8 xlr 4 jack would be perfect!
It is always nice to have ways to get rid of some cables. With this I could remove a lot of cables from the floor. The only part that is good the XLR connector on the single cable end. The plastic is not that sturdy and have fallen apart.
