(Things such as channel activation and panning are done on the iPad.) It is also not possible to group channels, e.g. pairs of mics, hence 3 stars for Features.
Overall it's a good unit and certainly ticks the ergonomic box but some future firmware updates would make it more or less unbeatable.

Very pleased with this device, using as a soundcard instead of a mixer .. over USB its got everything I need especially the class compliant USB .. yes its missing some features compared to the Tascam model 20 ... but .. its tiny for a 20 input mixer and does exactly what I need .. and a great deal cheaper .. I also love the fact it can record to SD card so I can just start it recording when I'm noodling and delete if nothing good happens
Bought this for our band rehearsal over 2 years and still going strong. Love the fact that it has separate mixes for in ear for each band member & the ability to control the mixer via Ipad . Only drawback is software is a bit fiddly and has not been updated for years.
We got this because it has a great number of inputs, but specially because of the 6 stereo headphone outs that we use for our individual in-ear mixes. No need for any additional hardware.
The recording to sd card feature is also great.
Others have commented about the software, and while we agree its a bit gimmicky, it does the job. Can be used without an iPad but many features are unavailable without it so consider that and for example, if you left a channel muted in your last saved mix, then you wont be able to unmute it without the app itself.
