The kit is great and installation is easy. I cannot say more about pads and how it feels because I am an absolute beginner with 0 experience. But the sound module have manufacturing issues right out from the box, and of course, I updated it but with no effect. First, the module does not start always, sometimes after power up it freezes in the beginning splash screen and it stays there forever. Second, it has an audible hum noise on headphones output as well as on main line out. The hum is always there and is not related to the position of volume knobs. With this problem I cannot see how the kit could be used for recording. It looks like a batch problem, I saw on reddit at least another 3-4 users with the exact same problem. I wrote to Thomann tech support, we'll see how it goes. I will ask for a replacement, not repair, it is not normal for a brand new device, and not exactly a cheap one, to be defective on arrival.
Update on 16.01.2025: The defective module was sent back in december 2024, so far I have not received the replacement. So, drum set purchased in november, still not able to use it....
Update on 03.02.2025: One week ago I received the replacement module. The original defective module was replaced with a new module from the Alesis Strata Prime kit, the bigger one. The cables are not the same, nor the mounting fixture or the power supply. I had to purchase those separately. But it works absolutely fine. Considering the modules value difference, the waiting time and the fact that the kit price dropped a bit since I purchased it, I'm happy with the outcome. Thank you Thomann, and Alesis, do something with the QC.
