Let's be honest: I'm completely biased. I've used the Daddario's so long time, that I can't really compare them to other brands anymore... But as it comes to the real love: when you find the one you adore, why change? ;)
Daddario EXL's are punchy and bright sounding strings, with lots and lots of midrange. The excessive treble is easy to cut out with your passive tone knob, and the midrange you might not like in your bedroom really feels good on the stage with all that drum-banging around!
They feel a bit stiff, but due to their "tensioness" you don't have play or plug too hard with your right hand for getting a snappy and articulative tone.
They're by far my favorite strings, and for several years I've not even considered anything else. For me, they work perfect.
