Three useful channels, for speakers and an induction loop

As an installer, I am frequently required to generate a feed for a hearing assist induction loop as well as speakers circuits. I have now purchased two of these units and a third may be on the way. The format usually ends up by being something like Zone1: front speakers, Zone2: rear speakers (if a large hall) or lobby, or separate room and Zone3 : The loop.
For this purpose, this unit is absolutely ideal. I would say a couple of things though.
The two mic channels which have parallel inputs on front and rear (nice touch, if you've got a rack mounted radio receiver to plug in with balanced O/P) should be the channels with faders and the music inputs, the ones with rotaries. In this vein, the three Outputs would be better with faders for Volume, or at least a bigger knob to differentiate from the tone controls. (In an installed situation, music sources tend to be "static". Its the mics that are more likely to vary and benefit from a fader.)
To my mind the fact that you can have 10 inputs for the 5 phono input channels is way too many for this device, the A/B input choice is unnecessarily complicated , something I cant see many people using (Who has that many phono terminated devices to plug in. A tablet, a phone, a laptop, a CD player and a spare?. Most folk would probably use the same dangling 3.5mm jack lead for the first three anyway)
The push button, illuminated zone selectors are great, particularly for choosing exactly what gets fed into the hearing loop, but the rubbery buttons, not so. The machine tolerances seem a little tight and on one unit I bought, I had to (very carefully!!) file the paint off the inner edges of the hole so the rubber wouldn't bind. It was a small fix, but annoying and I didn't want to have to send it back just for that. Solid switches could still have LED illumination, or use transparent perspex.
The rubber buttons just dont feel nice!
There could be an improvement in headroom (gain) as when used with a tablet and a phone, with the source volume flat out, the gains had to be turned up full to get a reasonable output (and bargraph signal) out of the the three "Masters"
All this being said, its a tidy and useful unit, fits nicely into a wall mounted rack frame that can then have its door locked and if they got rid of the unnecessary alternate inputs and switches etc they could probably shave a few pounds off the price and make it even more attractive.

I use this unit in my mostly DAW-less mini home studio. The in total three masters come in very handy and are worth the slight price lift from the IMIX 7.1. No hum or noise, even with multiple masters/ins activated at the same time. The sliders could been a bit stiffer, they move with the slightest touch, I have no complaints regarding the buttons or knobs.
The flexibility this product offers me is great, I use one IMIX master channels with a mixer recorder, to expand and make routing easier (e.g. effects processing). One master is used for my sampler, which can now also be easily be used as an effects unit for all the line ins. The other Master is used for my hifi system.
The panel is easy to use, routing is very intuitive and flexible, with gain and volume on line ins and master channels with additional tone adjustments and vu-leds are usefull. I've yet to test the Mic ports, but I have other pre-amp options for those. One gripe could be that there are mostly phono line inserts, I don't care about this, most of my connected synths only have line-outs. I also did not use the multiple line selector button for switching to another connected device on the same channel, but cloud see the advantage not having to plug/un-plug, they are exclusive to each other so only one can be used at a time.
Of course I could have bought a bigger mixer/MTR with a ton of routing options, but that would have been too intimidating for me to start my step-by-step journey and learning process.

Die wohldurchdachte Konstruktion des IMIX erschließt sich erst beim zweiten- bzw dritten Hinsehen.
So besitzt der IMIX drei Stereoausgänge, auf diese jeder Eingang wahlweise geroutet werden kann,- auch parallel, - und natürlich rückwirkungsfrei.
Die drei Ausgänge sind sowohl symmetrisch auf XLR Buchse,- als auch unsymmetrisch auf Klinkenbuchse verfügbar, - umschaltbar 0,7Volt oder 1,55 Volt Pegel.
Drei Stereo-LED Anzeigen geben permanent Auskunft über die momentanen Pegelverhältnisse auf den drei Ausgängen.
Außerdem verfügt jeder Ausgang über den obligatorischen Summenregler, und eine Dreiband- Klangregelung auf der Frontplatte.
Die 5 Phono/ Lineeingänge besitzen auf der Rückseite jeweils Gainregler, welche mit einem Schraubendreher eingestellt,- und so gegen unbeabsichtigtes Verstellen gesichert sind.
Alle 5 Lineeingänge besitzen jeweils zwei paar Eingangsbuchsen,- diese können von der Frontseite über einen Wahlschalter ausgewählt werden.
So können theoretisch 13 Signale ( 2x Mic, 10x Line Stereo, und ein zusätzlicher AUX Stereo) gleichzeitig angeschlossen werden.

Aktiviert man die Talkover Taste, werden die Mikrofonsignale auf die angewählten Ausgänge gemischt, während das Signal der restlichen Eingänge um einen einstellbaren Wert abgesenkt werden.
Auch die Rückstelldauer auf den Ursprungspegel ist mittels Poti einstellbar.
Sowohl das nur 9 cm tiefe 19 Zoll Gehäuse, als auch der gesamte Aufbau machen einen guten und robusten Eindruck.
Alle Schalter schalten präzise und knackfrei, - allein die Mikrofoneingänge könnten etwas empfindlicher sein.
Der IMIX ist wohl in erster Linie für ELA- Zwecke konzipiert,- wird bei mir aber als Monitorcontroller für den Aufnahmeraum zweckentfremdet.
Alle Signale, die ich in den Aufnahmeraum einspielen muss, liegen am IMIX an, - dank der drei unabhängigen Ausgänge kann ich sie beliebig auf Lautsprecher und/oder Kopfhörer routen, habe dank der LED- Ketten eine Kontrolle über die jeweiligen Lautstärken, - und dank der gut funktionierenden Talkoverschaltung kann ich mittels einfachem Standmikrofon mit Sprechtaste alle Ausgänge gleichzeitig ansprechen.
Fazit
Der IMIX ist ganz sicher kein highend Mischer, - deckt aber in meinem Fall exakt die Funktionen ab, die ich schon immer günstig haben wollte.
Wenns ihn nicht gegeben hätte, hätte ich eigens für meine Zwecke solch ein Gerät konzipiert und gebaut.

Więc najwyraźniej nic specjalnego. Przemyślana konstrukcja IMIX-a staje się widoczna dopiero po drugim lub trzecim spojrzeniu. IMIX posiada trzy wyjścia stereo, do których każde wejście można opcjonalnie skierować – nawet równolegle – i oczywiście bez sprzężenia zwrotnego. Trzy wyjścia są dostępne zarówno symetrycznie na gnieździe XLR, jak i niezbalansowane na gnieździe jack, z możliwością przełączania na poziom 0,7 V lub 1,55 V. Trzy stereofoniczne wyświetlacze LED zapewniają stałą informację o aktualnym stanie poziomu na trzech wyjściach. Każde wyjście posiada również obowiązkową kontrolę sumy i trójpasmową regulację barwy na panelu przednim. Każde z 5 wejść gramofonowych/liniowych ma z tyłu kontrolę wzmocnienia, którą reguluje się za pomocą śrubokręta, co zabezpiecza przed niezamierzoną regulacją. Każde z 5 wejść liniowych posiada po dwie pary gniazd wejściowych – można je wybierać od przodu za pomocą przełącznika wyboru. Teoretycznie można podłączyć jednocześnie 13 sygnałów (2x Mic, 10x Line Stereo i dodatkowe AUX Stereo). Obowiązkowa jest także jedna szczytowa dioda LED na wejście liniowe. Dwa wejścia mikrofonowe to prawdziwa gratka. Oprócz regulacji poziomu posiadają także trójpasmową regulację barwy dźwięku? i może być kierowany do dowolnego z trzech wyjść. Jeżeli włączysz przycisk talkover, sygnały mikrofonowe będą miksowane na wybranych wyjściach, natomiast sygnał z pozostałych wejść będzie redukowany o ustawioną wartość. Czas resetu do poziomu pierwotnego można również ustawić za pomocą potencjometru. Zarówno 19-calowa obudowa, która ma zaledwie 9 cm głębokości, jak i cała konstrukcja sprawiają dobre i solidne wrażenie. Wszystkie przełączniki przełączają precyzyjnie i bez trzasków – jedynie wejścia mikrofonowe mogłyby być nieco czulsze. IMIX jest prawdopodobnie zaprojektowany głównie do celów ELA, ale używam go jako kontrolera monitora w pomieszczeniu nagraniowym. Wszystkie sygnały, które muszę zaimportować do pomieszczenia nagraniowego, są dostępne w IMIX-ie - dzięki trzem niezależnym wyjściom mogę je skierować według uznania do głośników i/lub słuchawek, a dzięki łańcuchom LED mam kontrolę nad odpowiednimi poziomów głośności - a dzięki dobrze działającemu układowi talkover mogę adresować wszystkie wyjścia jednocześnie za pomocą prostego mikrofonu na stojaku z przyciskiem talk. Podsumowanie IMIX na pewno nie jest mikserem z najwyższej półki – ale w moim przypadku oferuje dokładnie te funkcje, które zawsze chciałem mieć za rozsądną cenę. Gdyby nie istniało, zaprojektowałbym i zbudowałbym takie urządzenie specjalnie dla swoich celów. IMIX oferuje solidne urządzenie za niewielkie pieniądze z zaskakującą liczbą możliwych wariantów.
