Bang for the buck with some downsides
UglyKidJoe 25.05.2014
Size: My normal sized hand fits exactly on the cover.
Print & binding quality: The binding and printing is of very good quality with thick paper (as opposed to the thin Bantam Books type paper) and the cover consists of plastic for high durability.
Handling: It's hard to keep the book open while trying to learn the song because of the plastic cover.
Content: There is no introduction with an explanation. Each Song is printed on 2 to 4 pages also with barely any explanation and just the lyrics, the chords and barely any hints about the rhythm (some songs include printed notes for some riffs, e.g. Territory from Sepultura), only the chords/keys of the solos and no information on the speed of the song. At least there is a graphic explanation on how the chords are grabbed (called 'guitar chord boxes' here).
Included are many hits like Fear of the Dark, Paranoid, Chop Suey or Highway to Hell.
Conclusion: You get 67 songs in one book if I didn't miscount but there is a downside for getting that many songs for that cheap a price. So I'd say I wouldn't recommend this for beginners because you have to get the tempo and the rhythms by ear (which can be hard with full distortion on) if you want to practice in the original tempo with a metronome. The main achievement is that you get the arrangement (intro, verse, chorus, etc.) and the lyrics.
