3) The OctamicII preamp and AD converter via ADAT is a bit, bit more flaten than UFX+ preamp and AD converter, but the same - difference is practically inaudible.

How I get 4 bonus channels.
For 96kHz recording I use OctamicII 4 channels via ADAT (like 2 stereo or 4 mono channels ) and 4 channels through analog outputs.
For example:
It is possible to connect OctamicII 5, 6, 7 and 8 analog outputs to UFX+ analog inputs using channels 1, 3, 5 and 7 with "MS Proc" and "FX" (Reverb and/or Echo) processes (as 4 stereo channels) where the 2, 4, 6 and 8 is virtual for stereo effects. Octamic 1, 2, 3 and 4 channel via ADAT. This gives me a total of 12 usable channels (instead of 8 channels) for recording, only thanks to connections. Together with UFX+ I can use 16 mono channels where 4 of them are for virtual FX process.(Don't forget to use only great cables).
And one more thing. This interface works also on DC230V (Direct Current) power. In our studio, to avoid electromagnetic emission which may cause background noise and of course to feel better, we use 230 Volt DC. You will need electrical engineer to consult before use it in your area.

Wir haben uns nach einem sehr entäuschenden Intermezzo mit einem Gerät der amerikanischen Marke mit dem Einhorn nun für diesen einfachen und schlichten, dafür aber äußerst zuverlässigen und soliden Mikrophonvorverstärker mit integriertem Wandler entschieden. Was soll man sagen? Alles wesentliche ( Gain, Phase Inverse, Phantomspeisung, und Pad ) an Bedienelementen ist vorhanden und funktioniert auch nach längerer Nutzung noch knack und störungsfrei und auf jeglichen weiteren Schnickschnack wurde verzichtet. Die Combobuchsen erlösen einen von anfälligen Adaptern und DI-Boxen.
Also mechanisch und haptisch ein robustes Spitzenprodukt.
Zum Sound:
Die Preamps klingen, wie es sich für ein Referenzgerät gehört, überhaupt nicht. Soll heißen, es treten keinerlei Verfärbungen auf, das Gerät überträgt absolut linear und präzise feinzeichnend. Haben das sogar mal mit einem AudioPrecision Analysesystem überprüft. Dies trifft auch über alle Kanäle zu. Bei einigen anderen Herstellern hat man da messtechnisch und zum Teil sogar hörbar Unterschiede in den Kanälen.
Alles in Allem sind wir also höchstzufrieden mit diesem Gerät und würden dieses jederzeit wieder kaufen. Eben ein wirklich anständiger professioneller Industriekonverter, kein lustig blinkendes Designergerät, was es besser beherscht schön auszusehen, statt ordentlich und zuverlässig zu arbeiten.

En live ou studio de petite dimension, avec carte son RME9632 PCI datant de 15 ans environ (ADAT fibre optique intégré). J'ai connecté l'Octa Mic II pour plus d'entrées (en fibre optique), je suis entièrement satisfait.
J'ai hésité parce que cher. Mais non, Aucun défaut et le son est précis. Les sorties OUT en jack stéréo convertissent le mono en stéréo et permettent de réinjecter le signal par exemple sur un ampli casque comportant des entrés auxiliaires pour que chaque musicien puisse écouter plus fort son jeu.
Bien se rappeler que au-delà de 48KHz, le nombres d'entrées utilisables diminuent sur la première sortie MAIN ADAT OPTICAL.
Il faudra utiliser la deuxième sortie AUX ADAT OPTICAL donc utiliser 2 fibres optiques. J'ai configuré le Clock en interne sur l'octamic II, la carte son fait le reste et synchronise tout. Utilisé sur Cubase PRO9.5, c'est parfait.
Les connectiques et boutons sont solides.
