Very good value for money, warm sound, quality build
Datorium 14.11.2020
I have been using the mic for half a year for my live streams and podcasting. Overall, very satisfied, very well build, solid feel and easy to use with Rode shock mount and arm. Sound tone is quite warm and pleasant. So far I use without any intermediate mixers or preamps, like Cloudlifter, directly into my Zoom H4n Pro recorder as an audio interface. It is a gain hungry mic, as is expected from the dynamic ones. With 85% gain you can hear the hiss noise, but it is quite insignificant and easily removed in post production. Intermediate preamps can definitely solve this issue, if you need even higher gain levels (I do not feel I need). The only significant con from my experience is its sensitivity to pop sounds, even if I use original Rode foam cover pop filter, I can definitely hear pop sounds. This is becomes particularly problematic with proximity, when you directly speak into this microphone. But it gets solved when I speak at an angle, which sounds overall very good. I have also recorded classical guitar and the result is pleasing, with rich lows and warm highs. But for this purpose I would definitely suggest lifting the signal before the audio interface or mixer, as I feel the need in more gain for instrumental recording.

I do mainly Death Metal music, and the Procaster is my new go to for several applications.
It is superb on my voice, especially with the WS2 windscreen. The windscreen applied makes the mic sound warmer and turns it to a great answer to the SM7B while eliminating plosives, so I highly recommend getting that as well.
Besides vocals, it's surprisingly good on distorted guitars! Shove it in front of an amp and behold the great results! I like using mics for things they weren't 'designed' to do and see what you get. Sometimes you'll be very pleased with the result.
And yes, I use it for spoken word as well. Again, with the windscreen on.
As well as recording purposes, I truly feel I can defend myself with this mic if needed. It's build quality is top notch and it feels like a metal pipe in my hand.
I love this mic.

The rode procaster microphone is absolutely wonderful. It sounds crisp and clear, doesn't pick up a lot of noise. And is built like a tank. Build quality is great and it is a heavy mic. Pouch it comes with is also very nice.
The sound quality is superb specially for the price point, and the lows are a little emphasized to give that beautiful podcasty/radio channel voice.
However i do recommend a cloudlifter or a fethead. Because this mic is really gain hungry, and i had to crank up my scarlett 2i4 to almost maximum to get decent sound without the cloudlifter
