I have bought a cheap Chinese curved sop and a second hand Elkhart and sent both back, for tuning/playing probs.
This Sax is of much better quality. In tune throughout, no leaks. Lovely high register. Rather clarinet-like. Lower notes quack a bit but I think that's a soprano thing.
Nice hard case. Made in Taiwan.
The G sharp key is at a slightly odd angle but within normal range of different saxophones, I suppose
The supplied sling came in bits and was incomprehensible. I bought another. You'll also need to get a mouthpiece. I got a Yamaha 5c which sounds great)
Three was a surprise in that when I purchased it for £790, it didn't arrive for 2 weeks. I investigated and found it was waiting in customs with a bill for £194 before they'd send it on. Part if this was the expected VAT, some was a handling charge. I couldn't really get to the bottom of the numbers and Thomann didn't clarify with their emails.
Brexit may be the reason for this change (I voted remain) but
this is poor communication. They should add the VAT at purchase and al charges should be clear (especially when it's advertised as "free delivery")
