Bought this as an upgrade from the Xenyx 502 as i needed an extra mic input, having a second set of outputs is also super handy for my setup too. I previously owned a Yamaha MG12/4 so i found this mixer simple to use and had it all setup really quick. Well happy with it.
After more than a year of using it, I'm rating it 4 and not 5 stars because it would have more features similarly to the competitors; the stereo channels, for instance, don't have eq. However, what it does, it does well. It is not totally silent but has a good sound quality overall.
The mic filters are good for what they're intended, but you can also use instruments in those channels. I use, for instance, a synthesizer in the mono channel with the filters on (otherwise it distorts the sound).
Using the mono channels for a bass guitar doesn't work very well; although you can get the sound, it somehow reduces the range of the bass' treble/bass knob.
The stereo channels work particularly well with synthesizers, returning a clean sound. I use it regularly with some combination of keyboards, including a Nord Stage and a Korg Opsix.

I bought this Yamaha MG06 primarily to use for monitoring purposes for my drum set up when playing live. My monitor mix goes into the mixer along with click track from my Roland SPD-SX. I then go out to IEM'S via a hard wired Fischer belt pack. Does a great job and the features are amazing for such a small mixer.
It's well built, set out easily and feels like a good quality product.
Due to its size it's easily portable as well which is a big factor for me.
Yamaha make great products and I can't find fault with this so far, recommend.
