I bought only 1 subwoofer from Thomann as I had another one at home. The existing one was made in Mexico, while the Thomann one was made in China. There are small differences in finish, but the overall quality is around the same. It does not matter where it was manufactured.
The subwoofers are rugged, but even lightweight, which is good if you travel a lot. The external build quality is great, but after removing the grill, you can see that the internal build is not that precise, but okay.
The subwoofer has a punchy, full sound; many 15" subwoofers cannot go to such deep frequencies. Of course, an 18" subwoofer can go even deeper, but that is much bigger, heavier, etc. This sub is made to extend your top cabinets with deep frequencies and improve the sound quality. This is not ideal when your prefer very high sound pressure to sound quality.
The subwoofer inside the enclosure is made by Eminence. The speaker quality is good, but behind B&C or 18Sounds in terms of power handling and sensitivity.
The maximum continuous power is around 400 Watts comsidering the magnet size - this is the continuous music power what it can handle. The 1.600 Watts peak is marketing lie, the speaker cone would die immediately for sure.
An amplifier of 350-400 W @ 8 Ohm per channel is ideal for these boxes, which can maximize the their output. If you use more than 400 Watts, you will destroy the subwoofers in short time.
I think that it is a great product as it has great sound, good build quality and portability. However, you should know its limitations, which is around 80-100 people inside a building. It is not ideal for outside events due to the limited SPL.
