A fine drums and instrument mic with versatile mounting

I've always liked EV mics. Less bass and proximity effect than the ND46 and is much less bulky, best suited to rack toms, off-axis response surprisingly clear and full-range for a dynamic. Like the ND46 has better high freq. and off-axis response than most dynamics. Great clarity and transient detail for any non-electric instruments. Very effective over violin, viola and other strings, also woodwinds or brass section, select the ND46 for deeper bass instruments. Good on clean guitar tones eg jazz. Has one of the best rim mounts included that fits different sized hoops and is easy to use. It would be wise to order it with the SAND-1 stand adapter for other instruments, it's provided with the rim mount only. Combined with the swivel head allows very flexible mounting in tight spaces. Useful alternative on snare, from soft brushes to hard hitters with its detail and transients. Great performance for this price, clever design works in any space or position

Great alternative to "the industry standard" on guitar and snare!

Bought this to mic a snare drum - that's probably why you are considering it as well. It works great for that. It's a no-frills dynamic mic with a low noise-floor and a good sound across the spectrum. To me, it sounds better that the "industry standard" SM57 - it's just a little more hi-fi. Thus, I actually found that I also really like it in front of a guitar cabinat.
I can easily recommend it to those looking for a "mid-forward" microphone who aren't happy with the lo-fi qualities of an SM57.
