Vitalizer Mk-3T continues the family tradition of saturators and sound enhancers. And it does it well. I mainly use it on the mix bus with a few other processors and I can definitely say that despite the possibility of drastic interference in the sound, it works best in a small doses.
Like most devices that destroy the sound (because the tube does it), Vitalizer produces a hissing sound at the level of minus 24 (or smth) decibels. So after discovering this unit, reading the reviews and looking into what the Vitalizer is for, I could not help but keep asking myself: "Why is it so praised by everyone? Is it really that good? Does it actually deliver that one final polish to the master track?".
And the answer is "Yes". It really does make a big difference. Balance out the EQ? No problem. Bring a flatly EQ'd track to life? No problem. Soften the kick but make it stand out? No problem. All you need to do is to turn on bypass - you WILL hear the difference. Big difference.

It has a unique way of making your whole mix come alive and have more clarity, depth and overall vibe.
Headroom isn’t so high as for mastering standards but just make sure you don’t push the level too much going in and it’s all good

Ich nutze auch die SSL Fusion in Verbindung mit dem Bus+ Kompressor in meiner Master Chain und während mir die Mitten immer gefallen haben, so hat mir doch die Kraft in den Bässen und unteren Mitten gefehlt.
DER VITALIZER, sitzt nun in erster Instanz in meiner Master Chain und das Signal wird, dann direkt an die Fusion & die anderen Komponenten in meiner Katte geschickt.
Da das Lowend vorher nicht besonders gut war und ich immer das Gefühl hatte da fehlt unten rum noch was, kann ich sagen,
der SPL Vitalizer löst nun das Problem, auf eine wundervolle Art.
Nein, ich übertreibe nicht!
Die Kick setzt sich mit ordentlich Punch durch.
Der Bass ist klare und definierter wahrnehmbar.
Der BASS COMP, schützt die Wandler damit man nicht zu heiß ins Audio Interface oder in andere Geräte geht.
Und der MID-HI-TUNE Regler balanciert den gesamten Track wunderbar aus, so das es nie wummert oder dumpf klingt.
Dazu der STEREO EXPANDER des Vitalizers, dieser verbreitert dezent den gesamten Mix und lässt den Sound größer und geräumiger wirken.
Alles in allem, der beste Kauf für mein Studio.
Fazit:
Egal ob als Effektgerät vor dem Endverstärker oder im Studio in der Mastering Session, das Ding kann was, und der Sound den man erzielt, lässt auch mal einen "dezent/leicht unausgewogenen" Mix in neuem Glanze erstrahlen. Ich empfehle nur, gleichzeitig hochwertige AD Wander zu haben, denn die meisten Audiointerfaces sind mit der Kraft und Präzision einfach überfordert. Doch das steht auf einem ganz anderen Blatt.
