I've been using Vater 5B for 2 years now after having tried numerous brand and style of sticks. These work for me perfectly.
I play rock music and these help hitting with confidence while saving some energy, however, I can also play soft tunes just the same.
Good length for me, the tip, made of wood, helps me get a good sound out of the drums and cymbals. The diametre is large but not too large and awkward to hold.
They do not feature anything that would prevent the stick to slip off the player hands but I apply candle wax before playing and that does the job. Absolute game changer for me.
If bought in blocks, you may want to pair them with more alike stick. I tend to re-pair them when the weight isn't matching.
Beware, they'll break, like normal sticks. If you hit in a odd way, they may break early.

These sticks felt so easy to play with from the moment I first tried them out on the drumset. I am not a particularly heavy hitter, but I like to dig into the drums and I usually play with heavy sticks which is often exhausting. With these ones though I felt great. Their lacquer is just enough to not give you the feeling of holding something rigid (they are big sticks after all), but at the same time, it's not too much and it doesn't cause them to slip and fly away when your hands get a bit moist. They are well-balanced with a slight feel to be a tiny bit heavier towards the tip.
They are also quite durable - I usually have my sticks chipping away around the bow, due to the way I aproach the hats and going for rimshots frequently, but these ones hold up pretty well. I bought two pairs for a test drive and I think I'm about to stick with them, no pun intended ;)
If you like to play/practice with heavy sticks, but you don't want to feel like you're holding tree stems, I think you should try these out!

These have a very nice finish and they feel superb. Good weight and overall quality, on par with other bigger brands. Nothing to say really, try them out, you won't be disappointed.
